What are You Reading this Weekend?

Happy Friday!! I am so ready for it to be the dang weekend. The weather here has been pretty stormy with lots of wind, rain and hailstones so we probably won’t be making any fun excursions. We will be packing some more boxes for our house move and catching up on some reading.

I picked up Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey after it was mentioned in the RomanceBooks subreddit as a friends-to-lovers romance with lots of sexual tension and, boy howdy, does it! I devoured the first half of the book yesterday and can’t wait to dive into the rest this weekend. I’m thinking I’ll have a little cosy reading night since the weather is so crappy. I’ll get a bottle of red wine, make some delicious food, light my Rituals candle and wrap up in a blanket. Hopefully, the weather will improve soon and the blanket will no longer be required for my reading nights. I am chewing at the bit for some sunshine!

Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey

This unlikely getaway driver never expected to help the mayor escape…

After a six-year absence, Addison Potts is back in Charleston to stir things up. And what better place to make her villainous return than her estranged cousin’s wedding? Only, the nuptials hit a snag when the bride doesn’t show, leaving Addison to play getaway driver for the jilted groom. A groom whose heartbreaking smile and deep, southern drawl she should not be noticing…

Elijah Montgomery Du Pont is the future mayor of Charleston. From his military career to city hall, every detail of his life has been meticulously planned. Until now. His only respite from life’s sudden upheaval is Addison, his new, improbable best friend. She makes him happy. Grounds him. And public disapproval be damned, he’s not willing to give her up. But with an election on the line and public pressure rising, Addison—and the cruel hand of fate—might not give him a choice.

  1. Okay so I’m a little late but I finished up Dark Days by Derek Landy and started Shadow and Bone as well as reading more of War and Peace!

      1. I’ve not seen the show! I’ve been hiding from it lol. I’m only about 150 pages into S&B right now but I’m enjoying it. The writing style is much more juvenile than in SoC, but that also means that the pacing is faster than in the duology. So I’m enjoying that so far!

  2. That sounds like a great weekend book!

This weekend, I’m hoping to finish “McMindfulness” (a brutal critique of secular mindfulness programs) and start “Beneath the Haunting Sea” 😁
