What is something that you own way too many of, other than books?

Paper. I have big boxes just filled with paper. Not just regular old printer paper but beautiful patterned papers and paper I have coffee stained. I love having a coffee staining day where I prep as much paper as possible for creating journals. Some of my favourite papers are vintage letters and anything with flowers on them. Lord help me, but I am obsessed with vintage floral patterns.

What is something that you do for fun that’s not reading a book?

Watch TV…. Probably a pretty boring and obvious answer but I enjoy watching TV with himself. We love to watch horror movies when we’re not binging a new show. We recently watched The Night House on Disney+ which was pretty creepy and had some decent frights in it. It’s about a woman who has recently lost her husband and becomes convinced she can feel his presence in their house. The more she investigates the more it seems she didn’t fully understand the man she married.

What is something special or important on your nightstand, that’s not a book?

There is nothing exciting about my nightstand. It has a lamp that I am constantly knocking over, a packet of Rennies because I often have heartburn and my earphones for when I have trouble sleeping. I like to listen to meditations on YouTube when I can’t sleep. Jason Stephenson is my favourite. His voice is so soothing.

What’s something that you buy at a bookstore other than books?

Stationery and coffee. It’s so difficult not to buy a new notebook every time I’m there but I manage to keep it to once in a while. I almost always buy a coffee on my visits though especially if the bookstore has a seating area.

What’s a fun gift that you’ve received that wasn’t a book or a gift card for books?

My husband recently bought me a gift that I was so excited about. He got me a bread maker. I love it but I haven’t quite gotten the bread to come out of it how I would like yet. I have a loaf of French bread cooking in it as I type, making the kitchen smell so good. I got the Amazon Choice one figuring it would be the best to start out with. I’ve made two loaves so far. One was lovely and the other I messed up by using the wrong flour.

I really fancy myself being a master bread maker with this thing and never need to buy a loaf again!

I watch a tonne of different YouTube channels. I mentioned Jason Stephenson above for meditation and of course, I watch a load of junk journaling channels. I believe I’ve mentioned Rachel Maksy on the blog before as well. Her channel is one of the most amazing if you are interested in vintage style and creativity. But there’s another channel I would like to shout out today, Choki. She has a homey slow living channel that is just the most relaxing and beautiful thing ever. I get so lost in her videos. I really want to bring her style to my own videos but I haven’t quite cracked it yet.
