Happy Friday, dear friends. I finished reading Petals on the Wind by V.C. Andrews last night and my gosh, was that book dramatic! I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to read next. The events of that book were just so mental I think I need a palette cleanser after it. I’m still listening to The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix but it’s difficult to find time to listen to an audiobook so I haven’t made much progress. I think this weekend I will read some more of A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I’ve been very slowly rereading it the last few months but haven’t picked it up since we moved house in August. There are some crazy events in the book too but nothing compared to the madness of Petals on the Wind. I enjoyed reading the book but it was a lot.
What are you reading this weekend?

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Fall under the spell of Diana and Matthew in the stunning first volume of the No.1 internationally bestsellling ALL SOULS trilogy.
A world of witches, daemons and vampires. A manuscript which holds the secrets of their past and the key to their future. Diana and Matthew – the forbidden love at the heart of it.
When historian Diana Bishop opens an alchemical manuscript in the Bodleian Library, it’s an unwelcome intrusion of magic into her carefully ordered life. Though Diana is a witch of impeccable lineage, the violent death of her parents while she was still a child convinced her that human fear is more potent than any witchcraft. Now Diana has unwittingly exposed herself to a world she’s kept at bay for years; one of powerful witches, creative, destructive daemons and long-lived vampires. Sensing the significance of Diana’s discovery, the creatures gather in Oxford, among them the enigmatic Matthew Clairmont, a vampire genticist. Diana is inexplicably drawn to Matthew and, in a shadowy world of half-truths and old enmities, ties herself to him without fully understanding the ancient line they are crossing. As they begin to unlock the secrets of the manuscript and their feelings for each other deepen, so the fragile balance of peace unravels…

Where to Find Me
Last weekend I didn’t read a damn thing, because I’ve been in a huge slump! I’m trying to read more now, and I’m making half decent progress!

Well done! Reading slumps are such a pain but I guess it’s good to take a break sometimes.

I’m a big fan of the All Souls Trilogy, and also enjoy the TV series. The Southern Book Club’s Guide is on my TBR also. I’m about halfway through Aurora’s End by Jay Kristoff – one of my most anticipated reads this year.

I hope you’ve been enjoying it. I have Jay Kristoff on my list of authors to try. He seems to be pretty popular at the moment.
