Happy Friday and Happy April Fool’s Day 🤡 I meant to post this haul last week but the weather has been so beautiful here I’ve been spending every spare minute out in the sun. Seriously, it’s been like a surprise mini summer! I even managed to read two of these books during it. There’s nothing I love more than lounging in the sun (with lots of SPF) and reading. I’ve been counting down the days till my sun holiday in May when I will be doing nothing but lounging by the pool and reading as much as possible. Well, I’ll go for a swim or two as well. One of my purchases in this haul is actually for that trip – Shipped by Angie Hockman. I love reading contemporary romances with vacation vibes while travelling. I also picked up some fantasy and paranormal books cause those are my true loves.
I got Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti because she was the author of the month in my Goodreads group and this book seemed to be quite popular with people. I read about 10% of it and I’m a little unsure if it’s for me. It’s an interesting take on the zombie apocalypse thing so I would like to give it another try. 10% isn’t really long enough to really get a feel for a book anyway.
I picked up a few hyped books recently as well, Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, and The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I’m a little bit late to the hype for Serpent and Dove but The Love Hypothesis and the Blood and Ash series are so hyped right now. I’ve already read The Crown of Gilded Bones and it definitely deserves the hype. This series is freaking amazing!!!
I also got two non-fiction books this month, Gaff Goddess by Laura de Barra and Traditional Italian Cooking. Since we recently moved into an older house I thought it would be a good idea to learn a few DIY homecare skills. Gaff Goddess (gaff is slang for house) is full of so many useful tips and it’s an Irish book so the information relates more directly to my situation.
After I found out about my high blood pressure I’ve had to make some significant changes to my diet. I used to eat a lot of Asian inspired foods with lots of soy sauce so I’m trying to change things up with Traditional Italian Cooking and create more tomato and cream-based dishes instead.
The rest of the books I picked up are listed below and I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on any and all of them so let me know in the comments. Happy reading 📚

It’s a dangerous mission and one with far-reaching consequences neither dreamed of. Because Poppy is the Chosen, the Blessed. The true ruler of Atlantia. She carries the blood of the King of Gods within her. By right the crown and the kingdom are hers.

But as the kingdoms’ dark sins and blood-drenched secrets finally unravel, a long-forgotten power rises to pose a genuine threat. And they will stop at nothing to ensure that the crown never sits upon Poppy’s head.
A lover and heartmate…
But the greatest threat to them and to Atlantia is what awaits in the far west, where the Queen of Blood and Ash has her own plans, ones she has waited hundreds of years to carry out. Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible—travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself. And as shocking secrets and the harshest betrayals come to light, and enemies emerge to threaten everything Poppy and Casteel have fought for, they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people—and each other.
And now she will become Queen…

Bound as one, to love, honor, or burn. Book one of a stunning fantasy trilogy, this tale of witchcraft and forbidden love is perfect for fans of Kendare Blake and Sara Holland.
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.
As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation—marriage.
Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. And love makes fools of us all.
The Love Hypothesis
When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman’s carefully calculated theories on love into chaos.
As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn’t believe in lasting romantic relationships but her best friend does, and that’s what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive on her way to a happily ever after was always going to be tough, scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting woman, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.
That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when he agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. But when a big science conference goes haywire and Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support (and his unyielding abs), their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion.
Olive soon discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.
