eBook Haul | Fantasy, Contemporary Romance and an Actual Print Book

divider

Happy Friday, friends! I’ve been at it again. Buying books as if I’m actually going to read them all. It’s true what they say, buying books and reading books are two completely separate hobbies.

This week I got an actual real-life print book made from paper and everything and of course, some more romance inspired by Reddit. I swear, I’m so easily influenced!

No DRC’s this week but I’m checking NetGalley regularly for some new romance reads. Let me know if you come across anything good.

King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair

I got this month’s real-life paper book purchase because I was in The Book Centre in Waterford with some time to kill. Sitting in a comfy spot with a coffee and a book is one of my favourite things to do so that’s what I did. Sadly, The Book Centre isn’t as comfy as it used to be and the coffee wasn’t that great but I did enjoy the book. Even though the coffee and the seating wasn’t that great, I really enjoyed doing this. I haven’t had the opportunity since before the pandemic.

King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair

Their Union Is His Revenge.

Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day her death day. To end a years-long war, she is to marry vampire king, Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and kill him.

But her assassination attempt is thwarted and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries to kill him again, he will raise her as the undead. Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.

Except it isn’t the court she fears most — it’s Adrian. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king — fierce, savage, merciless — chose her as consort.

The answer will shatter her world.

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey is awesome (the queen of dirty talk in books) and I freaking loved Schitt’s Creek so I had to get this. It took me a while to actually get it cause it’s a summery read. Alexis and Mutt weren’t my favourite pairing from the show (David and Patrick, yes please!) but I do like that dynamic and I bet Bailey will do a good job with it.

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

Piper Bellinger is fashionable, influential, and her reputation as a wild child means the paparazzi are constantly on her heels. When too much champagne and an out-of-control rooftop party lands Piper in the slammer, her stepfather decides enough is enough. So he cuts her off, and sends Piper and her sister to learn some responsibility running their late father’s dive bar… in Washington.

Piper hasn’t even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won’t last a week outside of Beverly Hills. So what if Piper can’t do math, and the idea of sleeping in a shabby apartment with bunk beds gives her hives. How bad could it really be? She’s determined to show her stepfather—and the hot, grumpy local—that she’s more than a pretty face.

Except it’s a small town and everywhere she turns, she bumps into Brendan. The fun-loving socialite and the gruff fisherman are polar opposites, but there’s an undeniable attraction simmering between them. Piper doesn’t want any distractions, especially feelings for a man who sails off into the sunset for weeks at a time. Yet as she reconnects with her past and begins to feel at home in Westport, Piper starts to wonder if the cold, glamorous life she knew is what she truly wants. LA is calling her name, but Brendan—and this town full of memories—may have already caught her heart.

Tessa Bailey is back with a Schitt’s Creek-inspired rom-com about a Hollywood “It Girl” who is cut off from her wealthy family and exiled to a small Pacific Northwest beach town… where she butts heads with a surly, sexy local who thinks she doesn’t belong.

Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

I’ve been hearing about this book for years all over the internet spaces where books are discussed. I have no idea why it’s taken me so long to get it but here we are. Hopefully, it won’t take me years to actually read it…

Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer’s Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

The Unseelie Prince by Kathryn Ann Kingsley

This was recommended by someone on r/RomanceBooks as a darker fantasy romance series and the cover is just fabulous so of course, I got it. The series is actually on Kindle Unlimited but I went ahead and bought all four books in one go. I would normally never buy an entire series without reading at least one book by the author first but I was swayed by how much I loved the covers. I needed them on my shelves!!!!!

The Unseelie Prince by Kathryn Ann Kingsley

The throne is Valroy’s for the taking…but first, he needs a queen.
As the son of the Morrigan and heir to the vacant Unseelie throne, Valroy itches to shed the mantle of prince and take his place as King. To his great regret one ancient tradition stands in his way, demanding he first take a bride. With all the members of the Unseelie court proving to be insufferable, what is a prince to do?

Steal a human, of course.

Abigail often wonders if the townsfolk aren’t right in calling her cursed. Abandoned by her husband and with no family to call her own, everything in her life hangs by a thread. Never did she expect her downfall would come by taking pity on an old hermit. Abducted into the dangerous world of Tir n’Aill, Abigail is thrust into a terrifying Maze that defies all logic. There, she finds herself at the mercy of an Unseelie prince with a strange offer—solve his Maze and he’ll grant her deepest wish…

If she can live that long.

From author Kathryn Ann Kingsley comes this tantalizing, slow burn dark fantasy that proves sometimes the line between love and hate is razor thin.

Please note: This is a dark fantasy horror series with a love story. This series contains scenes of graphic violence. It is a slow-burn romance between the monstrous villain and the main character over the course of four books. My fae do not pull punches, and my Unseelie are not kind.

Until November by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I read one book by Aurora Rose Reynolds a few years ago and did not like it. Then I saw this book discussed on r/RomanceBooks (I swear I need to stop going on there!!!) and figured I’d give her another go. I’m not sure what post the book came up on but I think it was one about possessive heros.

Until November by Aurora Rose Reynolds

November is looking forward to getting to know her father and the safety of a small town. After leaving the Big Apple and her bad memories for Tennessee, November starts working for her dad at his strip club doing the books. The one time she’s allowed there during club hours she runs into Asher Mayson. He’s perfect until he opens his mouth and makes assumptions. November wants nothing to do with Asher but too bad for November, fate has other plans.

Asher Mayson has never had a problem getting a woman, that is until November. Now all he can think about is making November his and keeping her safe.

Warning:18+ sexual content and a strong Alpha Male.
