Well, I was well and truly bitten by the reading bug this Spring which I’ve been very much enjoying. That is until I got sick after our holiday and switched to mostly watching TV. I still have plenty books to chat about with you though. I’m not going to go into much detail here cause I’m still recovering and just don’t have the energy to fully formulate my thoughts and opinions on things right now. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books and what you thought of them.

These Twisted Bonds by Lexi Ryan
I’ll have a full review of this up closer to its release date. This is part two in a YA high fantasy duology about fae. Very satisfying conclusion but I would definitely read more books set in this world following the other characters. This series has a very heavy love triangle but I freaking loved it!

The Lord I Left by Scarlett Peckham
Historical romance with a heroine that is not a virgin or a wallflower. Love it!! We need more historical romances where the heroine isn’t so repressed. I know it’s more historically accurate but feck it! I love a take-charge heroine and novels don’t have to be 100% accurate about everything. In fact, they probably never truly are.
Alice Hull is in training to become a mistress of pain, Lord Lieutenant Henry Evesham is a minister determined to save the debauched members of society who becomes enamoured with her. Nothing else needs to be said about this book! You know a good time is ahead with a pairing like that.

Heartless by Gena Showalter
Not sure about this one…. It’s kind of a paranormal romance for Harley Quinn fans. Everything is quite stylized and inspired by gaming elements. The characters are morally grey veering closely towards being bad guys. It was a little over the top for me.

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne
A really sweet opposites-attract contemporary romance. Read my full review here.

A Shadow in the Ember by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Fabulous! I might enjoy this more than the Blood and Ash books which have gotten a little dragged out and the constant upping of the FMC’s powers is getting a little silly. Hopefully, we won’t see that happening with this prequel series.

Ten Trends to Seduce Your Best Friend by Penny Reid
Absolutely amazing!!! This will probably be my favourite book of 2022. It’s definitely made its way onto my favourite books of all-time list. I still don’t have the words to describe just how much I loved it yet!

I completely agree with you when it comes to Historical Romance, I know authors like to be close to accurate but at the same time there is nothing wrong with stepping away from what everyone else does! I have added the Lord I left to my want to read list – thanks for the review!
I hope you are also feeling a bit better!

Thank you! I am feeling much better and planning a weekend of home maintenance. Not so relaxing but I’ll relax plenty after the patio is nice and clean for summer.
