Four Favourite Things

I mentioned recently that I haven’t been posting because of illness but I was feeling better and was about to start posting again… Well, a few days after posting that I got Covid and was right back in bed. I’m not going to even try to catch up with my usual posting schedule now. We’re just going to take it easy and see how it goes. I swear this summer has really been kicking my ass!!

Since I missed the last few months of Favourites posts I’m just going to put my faves from May, June and July into a single post. I haven’t been up too much so it’s pretty easy to shorten the list 😂

Favourite Book | Wolf Gone Wild by Juliette Cross

I read this while on holiday in May and freaking loved it! It’s a paranormal romance following a family of witches with a nice mystery thrown in. I love mystery subplots in romance novels but they are way too often murder mysteries. Wolf Gone Wild has a nice refreshing change of pace with the mystery of who cursed Mateo. The world-building in this book is excellent as well. Perfectly weaved into the story without any info-dumps.

Currently available on Kindle Unlimited.

Favourite Foodie Moment

Now, this is the source of most of my woes this summer. Food is what I have to be careful of while I’m waiting for my surgery. Mainly fatty foods. I’ve been doing pretty well on a low-fat diet since coming home from the hospital. I haven’t been sick and I’ve even lost 10lbs! I’m not trying to lose weight but it’s a welcome upside to all this. If you missed my previous post, I’ve been quite sick the last few months with gallstones. The gallstones themselves aren’t all that bad but they caused my liver and pancreas to become inflamed which was a big problem. I’m currently waiting for my operation to have my gallbladder removed.

So, foodie wise there hasn’t been much going on other than me learning how to cook without oil or butter and finding new condiments to add to sandwiches and stuff. It’s been interesting…. I’ve always been against low-fat foods but now that I have to eat them I’m finding them enjoyable enough. I really freaking miss cheese though. I’ve been eating more fish and using the airfryer a good bit more as well. The airfryer is seriously one of the best kitchen gadgets I’ve ever bought. That and my rice cooker are the most useful things.

Favourite Journaling Item

I haven’t been doing much journaling lately but I have been buying plenty. It’s too easy to online shop when you’re just sitting around your house. I felt I deserved a few presents while I was sick so I got myself some new kits on Etsy and some papers on Amazon. My husband also got me these awesome sticker books which I will share with you all in another post cause it’s just too much for this one.

The weather hasn’t been very summery here which is putting me in an autumnal mood so I got some rustic digital kits on Etsy. I cannot wait to start working with them and create some more journaling videos. It has been ages since I had time to do that. In the meantime, I’d like to shout out some of my favourite shops on Etsy. My Porch Prints, Chapter One Papers, and Collage Type are probably my top 3 but I have a bunch of favourites for you to check out.

Favourite Movie & TV Show

With being sick and then being in quarantine I’ve watched a lot of TV recently. I did manage to make it to the cinema to see the new Thor movie which I loved but it’s been mostly TV shows for me lately. My mother got Covid the same time as me so we were in quarantine together and binged The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass on Netflix. Highly recommend both of those shows even if you’re not a fan of scary shows. Midnight Mass would be a better watch if you really hate scary shows. We also watched all three seasons of Derry Girls which was absolutely brilliant.

So that’s it for me for the last few months. Not much has been going on but hopefully things will pick up soon.
